About

Having struggled significantly with my mental health for all of my adult life, I was eventually diagnosed with Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), at the age of 38. After a lot of research, I realised that a late diagnosis is common in women and I want to explore some of the reasons behind this.

After a lot of time and effort, I am finally learning to cope with my Autism at home, much of the time. However, I recently undertook a full-time, on-campus, MSc which has presented a different set of challenges; how do I manage my Autism and all of it’s associated difficulties when I’m not at home? When everything, and everyone, I rely on for support are 30 miles and a 45 train journey away?

In creating this blog, I hope to not only inform, but also to give a glimpse into my life as an Autistic adult and the daily obstacles that are thrown my way. My aim is for just one person to find this, and relate; anything else is a bonus!

Disclaimer: Autism is a condition that encompasses a huge spectrum of difficulties, challenges and experiences. All views expressed on here are based on my own experiences of Autism, and are not representative of all Autistic people and communities everywhere.
